As a Somerset libraries volunteer there are a variety of different ways that you can get involved and support your local library. From helping with activities and events, supporting the Library teams or assisting customer with digital skills. ‘Volunteers contribute to making Libraries a vibrant and exciting place to visit’ Our fantastic volunteers bring their experience, knowledge and skills. They support libraries to deliver a range of opportunities and activities to our customers that also benefit the wider community.

Dulverton library is looking for three volunteers to assist with activities in the library on a Friday or Saturday from 11-12.00. They are also seeking volunteers to support staff on either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday mornings.

As a libraries volunteer you can support your local library in one of the following roles:

Activities and Events Volunteer

This is a great opportunity to develop a variety of skills. You will get the opportunity to support the Library team and to help set up and run activities and events, which could include, Baby Rhyme sessions, Lego Clubs, Craft activities, Reading/Poetry groups, Knit and Knatter groups and Health related activities

If you have a flair for design, you could also support by producing posters for activities and events or helping to prepare displays in the Library.

Volunteers need for either Friday or Saturday (11-12)

Team Support Volunteer

Being a Team Support Volunteer provides you with the opportunity to get involved in a mixture of customer service and back-room book stock and shelving tasks.  You might also choose to help with events and activities. This is a great opportunity to develop your communication and customer service skills, as well as acquiring new skills.  If you love working as part of a team this role may interest you.

Volunteers needed for either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday mornings.

  • Undertake an induction and training
  • DBS is required for the Activities and Events volunteer role
