If your interested in working with families and young people then volunteering would be a great opportunity for you to gain experience in supporting a Public Health Nurse.
Further information
Observe and engage in a range of clinical activities relating to health visiting / school nursing under the direct supervision of a qualified Public Health Nurse.
These activities will include, but not be limited to:
• Attendance at clinics
• Making home visits with a Public Health Nurse
• Attending meetings
• Volunteering across Somerset in a range of venues
The volunteer will gain an understanding of the roles and range of services offered by Public Health Nurses and develop skills associated with this role.
Specific learning needs and objectives will be set at an initial meeting between the Public Health Nurse mentor/manager and the volunteer, to maximise their experience and manage their expectations.
Commitment to volunteer for a minimum of 75 hours. Usually, this takes place over three months, but a flexible approach can be taken. Flexible working patterns can be discussed.
